Your Legal Rights Under the Mental Health Act

It is of great importance that you know your rights if you are ever detained under the Mental Health Act, or you are already detained.  It is also important that people who work in mental health know these rights and ensure they are upheld and adhered to.

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Learn what it means to be detained under the Mental Health Act
  • Know the types of detentions, civil or forensic
  • Know your rights to appeal your detention
  • Know your rights to see your friends and family
  • Know what the Code of Practice says about your care and treatment
  • Know your legal rights to representation.
