Yoga & Recovery

If you’ve ever been interested in yoga but are disheartened by images of people contorted into pretzel-like poses; or have been put off by the media’s representation of yogis as being super supple and toned, then this could be the course for you.  Yoga has many accessible practices to offer and the benefits extend far beyond a sculpted body.

Much more than a form of exercise, yoga is a systematic practice of mindful movement, breathing, positive affirmations, relaxation and meditation aimed at finding a sense of balance in mind, body, and spirit.

If yoga is new to you then this is a great way to gain a good foundation in the discipline.  For those who are more experienced, it might be a great way to get back to basics and find out more about the background of yoga and how to fit it into your life.

Some of the many benefits of yoga include improvement in posture and controlled breathing, increased muscle tone, strength and flexibility, a greater ability to cope with stress and a feeling of relaxation.

This one-day course is broken down into key areas to help guide you through the practice of yoga in a structured and safe way.  We will talk about the history, philosophy and key benefits of yoga, allowing you to finish the course feeling confident and strengthened in understanding your yoga practice.

By the end of this course you will:

  • Have developed an awareness of the philosophy of yoga
  • Have performed a short yoga sequence
  • Have practiced various breathwork techniques
  • Be able to recognise the benefits of regular yoga practice on your physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual health
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of mindfulness.
