Understanding & Managing Social Anxiety Experience & Recovery

Social anxiety is an anxiety disorder that is characterised by feeling intensely uncomfortable in social situations. Social anxiety goes beyond shyness and people who experience social anxiety often become preoccupied worrying about being judged negatively by others. This often leads to avoidance of social situations and can have a significant impact on people’s day to day activities and self-esteem.

This one day course aims to increase awareness of social anxiety and gain a better understanding of what living with social anxiety may be like. We will also explore common factors that maintain social anxiety and consider different coping strategies to support people.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Have a greater understanding of social anxiety
  • Be able to recognise key symptoms of social anxiety
  • Understand the common factors that trigger and maintain social anxiety
  • Have heard lived of experience of living with social anxiety
  • Have explored ways to support others who are experiencing social anxiety
  • Be aware of available support services for social anxiety.
