Find out the answers to these questions and more on this half day course with the University of Law. This course will help you identify housing issues and explore how to access support either for yourself or someone you may be supporting. This is an introductory course, and no prior knowledge or experience of housing law is required.

By the end of the session, you will:

  • Understand the different types of housing status (owned, private tenancy, social tenancy licence, excluded occupier)
  • Understand the difference between a notice, possession claim, possession order and eviction notice
  • Be aware of local authority homelessness duties.
  • Have explored options for support with paying rent.
  • Understand the difference between a housing application and homeless application.
  • Have explored available support services, including online resources and the availability of legal aid to help fund advice and representation from a housing solicitor.
